Winter Wedding Tips

Written by Curator Olivia of Olive Fine Weddings and Events:

“Welcome to winter, friends!  Even though it’s cold and dark, I think that there’s something so cozy and romantic about this time of year.  And what better way to enjoy it than to snuggle up with your love and capture some of that love with a snowy engagement session, or glittery winter wedding day?!

If you’re planning on a winter scene, I wanted to share a few tips to make those gorgeous (but chilly!) outdoor sessions easy and super chic.

Pack a wrap or a coat you love.

Have a fur wrap from grandma’s closet, or a sharp dress coat and scarf for him?  Those pieces are absolutely timeless.

Assign someone to boot duty!

Your toes are going to get COLD in the snow, and sometimes it’s worth traipsing through some snow drifts to get a great shot, so you’ll want to have someone ready to swap your shoes when needed!

Consider a gown that’s not white.

I love unexpected bridal gowns, and something that has some shimmer like this Dear Heart Collection gown from Lovely Bride fits the bill.

Don’t be afraid to go bold

Bright colors provide a great contract to the snow and shadows.

Remember – the sun sets early in the winter!

Talk with your photographer and planner to time your portrait session to align with that perfect winter sunset.
