Jacquie and Steve's Traditional, But Not Traditional Wedding

Combining traditional elements with fresh spin, Jacquie and Steve’s wedding day at The Joinery could not be more Pinterest-worthy! They turned to the trusty platform for inspiration and did a lot of their decor DIY. See the beauty of their day in these images by Christian Sampson!

From the bride: Steve and I met in high school and had been dating for 12 years when we decided that we probably should make this thing official. After being together for so long, we knew that we wanted a huge party more than anything, where guests can eat good food, have a great time, and dance the night away. We also knew from going to so many other weddings exactly what we wanted for the big day! Our engagement was a year and a half which worked out perfectly because it literally took us all that time to plan/DIY/and peruse Pinterest over and over again! We knew that we wanted some traditional elements (we married in St. Alphonus Catholic Church in Lakeview), but also knew that we wanted some things to stand out (our priest allowed us to recite small passages to each other during the ceremony in addition to our traditional vows)!

Our projects of love included our DIY invitation suite complete with hand letter calligraphy by me and wax sealed by my patient now husband :)) We also DIY an 8 foot by 8 foot escort card wall, after a couple of trips to Home Depot and a few weekends staining and putting together the layout. We knew small details such as shoes (my husband changed into Jordans at the reception) and I wore a watch that was my grandpas would be things that we personally would remember in the years to come!

From the bride: Our vendors were amazing and really rounded out the entire day! Our catering service provided us with exactly what we were looking for (lobster rolls, cheeseburgers, fried chicken, mac and cheese, french fries, ice cream sandwiches and pies) and our florist, Carla knocked it out of the park with her hanging floral installation at The Joinery! We spent a lot of time and energy carefully planning (no wedding planner here) a day that would be filled with love and thoughtful/meaningful moments throughout. We are so excited to share what our wonderful vendor team created!
