Emma Petersen is a Chicago wedding and elopement photographer that specializes in documenting the story of your wedding day. Each portrait Emma takes is a moment held in time that encapsulates every happy tear, every tight squeeze, and every in-between. 

I’m Kate (she/her), your fave queer and quirky photographer! I have a passion for those beautiful “in between” moments, as well as those posed photos that look like they should belong on the cover of a magazine.

I am a documentary style shooter, which means I look for special emotional moments and try capture them creatively as they happen. I love the small details, those in-between moments, the laughs, the cries & thinking about how these images will make you feel as you’re looking through your album later.

With my photo style as warm as my personality, I genuinely love learning about the love stories and quirks of every couple I photograph. I strive to bring that giddy dance floor energy to every stage of wedding planning– from the moment we explore the possibilities on a consultation call to the day a full gallery hits your inbox full of your forever memories of the best day ever. 

I create modern and beautiful wedding photography by combining my background in wedding photojournalism with a love for fine art.
