Intimate, Urban Chicago Elopement
Elopements are having a moment. They’re perfect for the couple craving a ceremony based in closeness - just the two of you, looking deep into each other’s eyes and promising forever. Chicago, known for its industrial L-trains soaring above pedestrians and gilded art-deco architecture, is the perfect setting to fold couples into the intimacy of an elopement. Pair that Chicago backdrop with chic, modern, unexpected personal details, and let the moment speak for itself.
As evidenced by Alexis and Jamie’s elopement, planned by Olivia of Olive Fine Weddings and captured by Lauren of Lauren Louise Collective, there are a few key details to elevate your elopement: Think outside of the box for his attire. Jamie opted for a goldenrod suit from The Black Tux, paired with a velvet bowtie and slippers.
Consider unexpected details for her gown. Did you catch that cape on Alexis’ Jenny Yoo gown?!
Go bold with stationery. Stone Fruit Studio designed a black and white stationery with bold lettering and a colored tassel.
Use your surroundings to your advantage. The couple started at The Blackstone Hotel and followed the L-train north to the river. Along the way, they explored the colorful murals of Chicago, climbed up a fire escape for a wide shot, and jumped on the train to escape the chill.
Use unexpected color in floral arrangements. Persephone Floral Atelier filled out an otherwise muted, moodier bouquet with some bright yellow tulips. Bring a videographer on board to capture the close moments. Where To Next Films, Lauren Louise Collective’s in-house videographer, fit seamlessly into the crew and perfectly captured the day. Celebrate with a cocktail! The couple toasted their joyous occasion at the brand new St. Jane Hotel’s Free Rein restaurant.
