Tell us about your company.
We are Samuel and María, husband and wife, fine art Chicago wedding photographers, serving Chicagoland, Virginia and beyond. We are all about having fun, memorable experiences and capturing love stories in the form of photos. We believe in providing couples with an exciting, easygoing wedding or elopement experience. We believe that love is love and that all couples deserve to have an incredible wedding celebration, no matter what that may look like for them. Our couples can expect us to be by their side, celebrating on the dance floor, making a fool of ourselves. Oh, and besides that, count on us delivering intimate, emotion-filled, storytelling photographs and our 100% support on any crazy idea you come up with. What got you into weddings and events?
From the moment that we photographed our first wedding in mid 2017, we were hooked. As storytellers, we are always searching for the most meaningful opportunities to document. My family still frequently looks through my grandparents wedding album from the 1940's, full of emotion and holding the ability to be able to make you feels so immersed, as if you were there. The day that you choose to say "I do" to your partner and start a new chapter of your lives together is one of the most special moments you'll have. This day deserves to be captured artfully and authentically, so that it can be remembered by yourselves, and your loved ones for many years. We consider it a privilege to be there for our couples in this way!
How many people are on your team?
The Gernands Photography consists of Samuel and Maria Gernand.
Tell us a fun fact about you.
Maria has lived in 5 countries, including Guatemala (where she was born and raised), the U.S, Mexico, India and Jordan. While we are settled in Chi Town for now, she hopes to grow that list in the future. Samuel has toured as a drummer with indie rock band Mike Mains And The Branches and worked on and off as a session drummer since highschool.
Who is your “ideal client”?
Our ideal couple is looking for wedding photographers who will get to know them and are able to know what makes the sparks fly, and provide a comfortable, fun (for real) and genuine experience. They are ready to work with artists who will deliver stunning, authentic, emotion-filled photos that will be deeply cherished for generations. They're searching for more than photographers, but friends who genuinely care about them and want your wedding or elopement to be the most beautiful, exciting and relaxed day ever. Organized but ready for fun, spontaneous moments as well. Lastly, our ideal couple must be crazy about our work!
