Elopement at the Old Post Office in Chicago
Veronica and Dom had originally planned to be wed in October in Belfast, Ireland…but COVID had other plans. So they did what so many other 2020 couples did: they kept their date and got married anyway. After some searching for a place to be married on their hugely popular date, they ultimately found a newer venue, The Old Post Office, and it was incredible.
Veronica and Dom's elopement ceremony at The Old Post Office in Chicago was pretty epic (if you're a Chicagoan, you probably remember the enormous building sat vacant for a couple decades). The interior of the building has been fully renovated with its original Art Deco charm, and beautifully updated for events of all sizes.
Walking through the Old Post office, you pass historic artifacts kept in the restoration like mail chutes and overhead catwalks. The Vault has been kept as a perfectly sized room for a tiny wedding, with lots of window light.
And when the couple was married, we were given use of the enormous rooftop for more photos with their photographer, lisa kathan!
After leaving the Old Post Office, Veronica and Dom (with Veronica’s sister, the officiant, and her husband), headed out to nearby Fulton Market for photos among the beautiful street art; and finished the day with a quintessentially 2020 activity, enjoying a beer on Fulton Street.
Congratulations to Veronica and Dom, who will celebrate again next October with their families in Belfast!
