Kelcy + Matt’s wedding was dynamite. Not only do they deeply care for each other and their guests, but that fierce love paired with their incredible sense of design and a desire to push the limits of traditional wedding decor made the entire September wedding day sing.

Bright & Bold Modern Wedding at The Lakewood featured on CHI thee WED

I worked with the couple from the beginning of their planning process, after they booked The Lakewood for their venue -- a clean, crisp, modern, blank slate ripe for splashes of color. Once we started talking design, I knew we were going to have some FUN. Victoria at Atmosphere Events Group ended up being a spectacular partner to bring Kelcy + Matt’s vision to life. We worked as a team to synthesize the couple’s desire for non-floral elements, bright colors, color groupings, black accents, and unique shapes. Victoria nailed it, and the couple was able to share their appreciation with her directly during their reception room reveal! What a great moment.

Besides the obviously cool decor, Kelcy + Matt brought in other custom elements to turn the day into something so obviously “theirs”. Kelcy’s gown was custom made by Varca Bridal, and the rose gold metallic belt plus her hair and makeup brought the whole look together. Matt was in a fantastic midnight blue tux with black lapels by The Black Tux. After their moving first look at Eden, the couple joined their black-clad wedding party on the bus to take photos around the city. One of the most important stops was the “pixel wall” in the West Loop where they had snapped an engagement photo with City Savvy Imaging months before.

Once they arrived back at The Lakewood, guests were anxious to see the couple, and the room absolutely lit up as Kelcy was led in by her dad. Their ceremony was officiated by the bride’s brother-in-law, and there were tears, laughter, and just so much joy. After the couple became official, guests joined them for a fabulous cocktail reception by Paramount Events while the room transformed from ceremony into dinner. The team worked quickly -- what a transformation!

The rest of the evening was a dream, chock-full of moving speeches, fabulous dances, and great food. It was truly an unforgettable 21st night of September. Congratulations to the Wiegers!
