Tiara’s red cowgirl boots crunch happily along the worn trail; her fringe jacket danced and moved as Connor wrapped his arms around her waist. Above, the sunshine peaks through colorful foliage, and to the right, crashing waves hit the white, rocky shore line of Newport State Park in Door County.

Based in Chicagoland, Connor & Tiara are travelers at heart. So when the time came to propose, Connor wanted to give Tiara a ring that was the truest representation of their relationship – a Montana Sapphire. “That stone, depending on the lighting can range from colors as clear and blue as Montana skies to a deep blue-green like Montana’s Hidden Lake in Glacier National Park. Throughout our relationship, and this past year especially, we’ve learned that Tiara and I can adapt/adjust to our surroundings accordingly, no matter what’s thrown our way.”- Connor

And while Montana is near and dear to the couple, and a place they frequent often, there is another very special location that they cherish deeply.

When it came time to pick their engagement session location, they chose the place that held so many nostalgic memories for them – crunching leaves, white capped waves, and the brilliance of a forest in peak fall colors - Newport State Park in Door County! Connor’s family cabin is nestled up to Lake Michigan and the couple knew that this area would be perfect for creating new memories!

Their down to earth, trendy session started with a hike along the shoreline. Tiara’s jacket - the movement of the fringe and it’s uniqueness - represented how much the couple loves to be outdoors and dance. The couple both wore cowboy hats from Montana, a nod to the location where they became engaged. The hat is a true staple in Connor’s wardrobe and Tiara’s little red boots complimented his western inspired style.

Connor and Tiara knew they had something special when they had to say goodbye to each other after their college graduation ceremony. “As we lay in the lawn listening to music and imagining what life after college would look like, it was the toughest goodbye since we had no idea what our futures together held as I (Tiara) was moving back to Indianapolis where my family lives and Connor was moving back to the Chicago-land area where he is from and we were uncertain of when we’d next see each other. All we knew for sure was that we wanted our paths to somehow collide. With so much uncertainty around our relationship but knowing that we both wanted to remain a big part of each other’s lives, that’s definitely the moment that sealed the deal!”

As the sun began to set, Connor and Tiara ran to the sandy beach of Newport State Park. They kicked off their shoes and ran hand in hand, into the water. The stars began to pop out one by one, and the water grew chilly. But Connor and Tiara hardly noticed as they splashed each other. Just as they had hoped for- they created a whole new set of incredible memories in Door County.
