Written By Jill Alali, Event Designer at Siblana Event Decor

With so many possibilities for an amazing wedding experience, décor is the route to take to elevate your wedding from awesome to absolutely extraordinary.  With a decade of experience as a premier event design and décor company in Chicago, Siblana Event Décor transforms venues across the city and suburbs to make wedding dreams come true for their clients. Here’s what our designers see as the top wedding décor trends of 2024 where innovation and sophistication combine to create unforgettable wedding experiences through luxurious and gorgeous décor.

This ultra-luxurious wedding spared no detail. The all-white theme featured perfect black accents from specialty chairs, napkins, black glass stemware, and luxe lounge seating with black pillows.

Bold and Colorful Florals and Black Accents

Elevate your wedding aesthetic with the vibrancy of bold and colorful florals or the dramatic touch of black accents. Neutrals and greenery will always be elegant and timeless but to be truly on trend this year, couples are choosing exciting colorful floral palettes with coordinating colorful table linens and drapery backdrops. The allure of color is magnetic and unforgettable, leaving a lasting imprint.

If bright color isn’t your preference, then consider adding black accents to a subdued floral palette. While not traditionally thought of for weddings other than perhaps in the groom’s tuxedo, black is the “it” decor color for 2024.  Black draping behind the bridal table or sweetheart table focal point of the ballroom coupled with black table linens instantly transforms a room, exuding pure glamour. Or, just incorporating pops of black will create an instant upscale, urban appeal. You can accent with centerpieces or stage elements composed in black metal or black-tinted glass, and add black napkins and glassware for a look that is extra posh.

LED Screens as Dynamic Backdrops

Enhance the visual experience of your wedding with dynamic LED screens that serve as backdrops throughout the evening. Customize screens to change during different parts of the evening, providing a stunning backdrop for each moment of the night from introductions to dinner. Then, when it comes time to really party…LED screens can be programmed to dance along with guests as the DJ rocks the ballroom. For South Asian couples, these screens become captivating backdrops for sangeet and mehndi events, programmed with colorful patterns and images to coordinate with your theme.

Patterned Dance Floor Wraps

Move beyond a classic white vinyl dance floor wrap and visit the idea of a patterned dance floor aesthetic. An avant-garde approach to vinyl dance floor wraps is what we see happening in 2024. Make your reception dance floor the decor element that anchors your wedding design theme. We envision botanical print overlays, bold black and white patterns, and unexpected, entirely unique and dreamy mosaic designs.  Couples can choose from literally hundreds of thousands of images available online in high definition file formats that can be printed on vinyl to create a dance floor that will be the show stopping piece-de-resistance.

Smaller Bridal Parties and Sweetheart Table Focal Points

In 2024, the focus shifts to smaller bridal parties, allowing the bride and groom to take center stage. By centering a lavish sweetheart table featuring a luxurious floral backdrop or ultra modern vinyl panel placed behind the couple, the newlyweds become the elegant focal point of the evening. The extra long or two-tiered wedding party table focal point is out. Wedding parties are being featured at gorgeous head tables while the spotlight shines on the couple. Sweetheart tables are larger with luxe and lush floral schemes at table level and elevated behind the couple in the form of oversized floral arches or hanging floral chandeliers that look like they are floating in front of a swath of beautiful colored fabric draping set as an elegant neutral canvas to set off the florals.

Unexpected Ballroom Layouts

Break away from convention with alternate-shaped head tables. Square or round head tables for families and close friends stand out with custom decor elements designed with these shapes in mind, offering a fresh perspective on traditional arrangements. Bring in custom, oversized round specialty tables in gold or silver with a center cut-out to place giant trees. Include a varied combination of shapes among all guest tables rather than a standard herd of all rounds. Have the venue lay your dance floor in a diamond shape and place head tables on each of the four sides, or extend the dance floor to an extra-long rectangular shape.  Introduce large, highly visual statement pieces strategically placed throughout the ballroom or flanking the four corners of the dance floor…think extravagant florals atop tall columns or lavish tall trees decorated with lush florals wrapped around the trunks.

Lounge Seating

Create a loungey vibe with sofa and chair sets with coffee tables placed in groupings alongside the dance floor. Guests can relax with a drink then get back onto the dance floor. Or, place lounge seating among the guest tables with specialty decor to coordinate with centerpieces to create relaxation moments where people can mingle and sit comfortably as the evening moves from dinner to dancing. Whether it's a garden theme with French Provincial style or an ultra-modern theme with clean lines and neutral colors, lounge seating sets can seamlessly integrate with the overall design aesthetic.

In 2024, designers are using decor to set the wedding aesthetic while also creating an overall guest experience. Couples want their guests to feel wowed by a luxurious decor scheme while also experiencing different moments throughout the evening that make for a gorgeous but also fun and exciting evening. It’s all about curating a wedding experience for guests and this year especially, decor is leading the charge in creating overall fabulousness!
