Chicago Disney Lovers Wedding Day

Written by Christine Janda Design and Events

Heather & Sean are that couple you want to be around (and dream of designing for as a Wedding Planner). From our first consultation, they knew what they wanted yet were open to total collaboration to see how we could exceed their expectations.

From the look of their faces the entire day I am so proud to say that we did just that!

Their priorities were as follows:

  • They are TRUE Disney lovers. We had to incorporate this magic in an experiential way worthy of the Disney name.

  • Their life is full of bold, vibrant color. Their wedding needed to follow suit.

  • They are FUN. Light hearted. They wanted their guests to feel this throughout the entire celebration.

Keeping Disney front and center, as season ticket holders the couple spent YEARS collecting photos from different rides where they held up signs to later turn into custom table numbers.

From working with LBrown Design & Paperie to create a custom suite that was so perfect, we designed embroidered patches accented with hidden mickeys; that later graced the sleeves of her bridal party's denim jackets they rocked during photos.

Come Wedding Day their place cards became surprise Mickey Ears. I personally made it my job to run around Morgan MFG, and in neon, hide 12 mickeys throughout the venue; a beloved activity the theme parks does for those “in the know”  to look for. I can’t tell you how many times guests ran up to me laughing, screaming that they found one!

For their ceremony later turned dance floor, I wanted to showcase bold jewel tones that I knew would pop against Morgan MFG’s warm exposed brick. We custom made chairs with Ellie Rose to perfectly match our overhead ceiling treatment and clustered colorful floral that spilled overhead in one of my most favorite installations to date for their altar.

Perhaps my most favorite flower for Heather & Sean? A rose named “free spirit”. A vibrant coral tinged with pinks and sunset yellows. It encapsulated this couple who I still am lucky enough to talk to regularly.

During a quick 1 hour room flip, with our strategically designed floor plan, guest tables became color blocked chairs that also had color blocked napkins. We rooted our tablescape design on iridescent chargers with black menus to ground the color to allow what needed to shine, shine.

The icing on the (wedding) cake? Alliance bakery’s tie dye icing treatment.
