Classy, Sophisticated, Modern Chicago Wedding

Written by Kirsten Westerlund of Olive Fine Weddings

Rachel + Davis first met in high school! However, after high school, they both ended up going to different colleges 3 hours away from each other. It wasn’t until one night their senior year in college that their paths crossed again. As fate had it, Davis and Rachel ended up at the same bar in Rachel’s college town. The two ended up chatting all night! Despite the long distance between their two colleges, they decided it was worth starting a new relationship. After graduating, they both were offered jobs in Chicago where they were focused on growing their careers and relationship. Not only did they fall more in love with each other, they fell in love with the city.  After Davis proposed, they knew they wanted to have a classy Chicago wedding showcasing all the city has to offer to many of their out-of-town guests. Big congrats to Rachel and Davis!

The day started off with their wedding party and their families all getting ready in The Hoxton’s Apartment space. This airy space is not only beautiful but is a great option when you want to spend the morning getting ready with everyone in the same area. The space has private rooms where each partner can get ready without seeing each other. Lueur Beauti created a classic look for Rachel and each of her ladies. Ali Valdez was able to capture some magical detail and dress shots with all the natural light beaming through the windows.

After the first look, which brought many happy tears and smiles from both Rachel and Davis, the bride and groom shared some sweet gifts and sentiments with their families.  They then ventured out with the wedding party to capture some fun pictures in the Fulton Market area.  It was a perfect August day!

The ceremony was held on the roof of Morgan’s on Fulton with the Chicago skyline as the perfect backdrop. Rev. Dave Angle shared their love story to all their guests and the two were officially married!

After the ceremony, guests transitioned down to the second floor where they were greeted by saxophonist Derrick Tate, along with delicious food and drinks.

Once cocktail hour was over, everyone headed back up to the rooftop where the space was transformed into what felt like an intimate candlelit dinner under the city lights. Flowerchild created a classic look, with tunes from Style Matters DJ, Max Davis. Fotio provided their vintage photo booth which did not disappoint! To keep it classy, instead of a cake cutting, the couple opted for a champagne tower pour. Rachel and Davis not only showed their guests what a true classic Chicago wedding looked like, they also threw one heck of a party!

Congrats to the Newlyweds!
