Neon Oktoberfest Inspired by Wedtoberfest: Beer Festival & Wedding Show

When Naturally Yours Events was first tasked with the responsibility of creating a lounge space at IndieWed, a Chicago wedding show, they knew that they wanted to produce a quirky and inviting space for attendees.

They drew inspiration from IndieWed’s sister show, Wedtoberfest, an alternative beer-themed wedding event that connects couples with awesome wedding pros. The show allows couples to check out favorite local beer options to potentially incorporate into their wedding while meeting unique wedding vendors in a relaxed, pub-like environment.

Wanting to put a twist on the traditional fall color palette, the team chose a warm, neon palette with natural accents for a fresh and funky vibe. Naturally Yours Events enlisted an amazing team of wedding vendors to bring this bright beer-hall themed wedding to life. The energetic, fun, and beer-loving Ryan Moore captured the day at Ravenswood Event Center.

Watercolor brush strokes and gold accents were incorporated into the invitations by Paper Love Club (now Ashley Frye Studio). They paired a bold, elegant design with an artistic, colorful twist. Not to mention the actual pretzel twists that filled the envelope liner!

Each bride had a signature look styled by Jenny Yoo and The Suit Shop. We Only Do Pretty enhanced their natural beauty with light, clean makeup and a bright, bold lip color complimented by their own individual, unique hairstyles.

The backdrop for the ceremony combined natural wood and colorful neon elements, creating movement and an eye-catching design feature for the couple’s vows. The watercolor painted shape with gold accents reflected the quirky, free-spirited personality of our brides and was exquisitely executed by Black Candy Design.

Relics Rentals anchored the space with lounge furniture in vibrant colors and mixed textures. Long wood farm tables and eclectic wooden chairs set the scene of the beer hall. Reminiscent of the actual Oktoberfest in Germany, the furniture was complemented by bistro lighting and a ribbon canopy created by Atmosphere Events Group. This drew our eyes up and gave significant dimension to the space.

Hand-dipped watercolor table runners provided a foundation for the garlands of “floral” centerpieces uniquely handcrafted out of paper by Striped Petal (now Unwilted). The colorful arrangements included pink, orange, and yellow neon blooms with pops of beer hops mixed in! Pretzels on neon-painted wooden rods, created an edible design for the perfect before-dinner nibbly treat.

Place settings incorporated gold flatware and an eclectic mix of colorful vintage glassware from Relics Rentals accompanied by local brewery pint glasses and neon-dipped champagne flutes. Relics’ vintage dinnerware with various wheat patterns were framed by rattan chargers and hand-dipped napkins.

Wheat accents, intricate sugar flowers, watercolor and gold touches adorned the funky, eye-catching cakes and treats by Sugar Fixé/Fourish Cake Design which provided a sweet compliment to FIG Catering’s signature beer cocktails as Gussied created the up-beat music atmosphere with their cool bluegrass sounds.
