Summer Wedding at Venue 5126

We are so excited to share another real wedding with feedback directly from the couple! We originally found this wedding via Instagram and reached out asking if we could post. Jocelyn and Steve were kind enough to share their gallery with us but also answered some questions for us about their wedding experience. These are our favorite kinds of posts so please if you got married in Chicago, share your wedding with us directly so that we can help give advice and inspiration to other couples getting married. Enjoy!

What was the inspiration for your plans/designs?

We love summertime, and we knew we wanted to get married in the warm weather and outside. We loved the idea of having a rustic and elegant barn type feel, and Venue 5126 was a perfect mix of both. For style, we wanted it to be timeless, with many earthly tones and shades, but also designed in a way to reflect and capture our unique story. We loved our globe guestbook that honored our love for travel!

How did you feel on your wedding day - did it turn out how you planned?

We felt excited and ready to take this next step together. After a year or so of wedding planning, it was amazing to see everything come together.

Do you have a favorite photo from your gorgeous gallery?

Its so hard to pick just one photo, as Joy is a truly incredible photographer! Below are a few that we love because they show how much fun we have together.

What is your favorite memory/moment from the day?

We both agree that our favorite memory was our ceremony. Our ceremony was special to us in particular, because we planned all of it together. Our officiant is one of our good friends who poured our first drink together back in college. We wrote our own vows, as well as created our own unity ceremony. Our unity ceremony honored the past 7 years of our relationship, recognized the present, and made promises to ourselves for the future. For the past, we put mementos in a special box, for the future we wrote letters to our future selves, and for the present we blended our favorite whiskeys together and had our officiant pour our first drink as married couple.

Jocelyn and Steve, thank you SO much for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us!! AND Happy Anniversary in a couple weeks! xo
