Your Go-to Wedding Band Shopping Guide
Congratulations! You, or your fiance, said ‘yes’ and now it’s time to pick out your wedding bands. This is one of the most important pieces of jewelry you will own, so how will you find the right one? We’ve put together your go-to guide to help you find the perfect wedding band to pair with your engagement ring.
Before your wedding band appointment
When to schedule
Most rings are made to order, meaning you definitely want to plan ahead! You should schedule your appointment at least 4 months prior to your wedding. To get the most accurate size, schedule your appointment during a low activity day where your hands will have minimal swelling. Opting for a mid-day appointment will allow your hand to contract from morning swelling and be ideal for getting your perfect size. Also, try not to workout right before your sizing appointment!
. Get to know your engagement ring
Every engagement ring is different, so each ring stack will be unique. Getting to know those characteristics will help you find what you're looking for in your new ring! Do you have a low-set engagement ring? Contour bands are ideal if you’re looking for something to sit flush. Do you have a vintage heirloom that you want to look more modern? Using a mix of shapes and sizes will give you a refreshed look. Also - knowing your engagement ring metal and diamond details makes it that much easier when placing your order!
At your wedding band appointment
1. Lifestyle
With so many ring options, it can be hard to identify which one is best for you. Even if you're ‘just’ looking for a diamond band, there are dozens of options to choose from. For the active lifestyle, the channel and french set diamond band are ideal as they are the most secure setting. Are you looking for minimal maintenance? Solid gold and platinum bands are perfect for those who plan to almost never take their ring off. Plus, they never go out of style.
2. Create Balance
You don’t want to take away from your engagement ring, but compliment it! Does your ring have pavé diamonds going down the side? Adding contrast, such as an all metal band, will help create balance between the two rings. Looking for more sparkle? Selecting a contrasting diamond shape and/or size can create a balance between two diamond bands.
3. Stacking
Having a hard time choosing just one ring? Then, don’t! Stacking is a great way to incorporate multiple styles, provides you with multiple looks, and makes your stack all the more sparkly. Not ready for the stack? Prepare for your anniversary band. After one year of marriage, or a set amount, couples traditionally add an additional ring to their stack as to celebrate their anniversary.
Ring shopping is an exciting experience for you and your partner, so it should be fun! If you’re having a hard time visualizing your stack, schedule your Hitched appointment to try everything in person. Unable to make it to the showroom?
