Lindsay & Mike's Gunmetal and Berry Wedding Day
Lindsay and Mike’s modern and bold wedding at 19 East included deep berry florals, blush linens, accented gunmetal napkins and gold accents. We asked the couple what their favorite thing about each other and they both answered the same way - they both love each other’s sense of humor/smile/laugh! Keep reading to hear how they met in college, had a crazy funny camping story and how they have been together ever since!
How did you meet?
“We met in Fall 2007 at Millikin University, specifically the Alumni House. Mike was already part of the fundraising team, which I joined in October. We had unofficial "assigned seats" and there were quite a few students working. One day, someone sat in Mike's seat so he sat next to me. We started talking and the entire office had bets on when we would start dating. We made it official in April of 2008 and have been together ever since.”
Tell us your funniest story or thing that happened to you together:
“We debated about this but think we have a winner. Mike and his friends always camp in Shelbyville, IL right before the end of every college semester. Sometimes, significant others are allowed to join. This particular weekend was Mike's 21st birthday and he asked me to join. I have never been camping nor am I really the camping type but I thought I should give it a try. Mike was convinced that everything would be perfect and I would fall in love with camping. While he was pitching the tent, I asked why he wasn't putting the waterproof liner down. He claimed it was not going to rain and we'd be fine. Flash forward into the early hours of the morning and I am wide awake next to a passed out Mike (he made sure to really celebrate his 21st) while maybe the worst thunderstorm in history is occurring outside. While I am concerned that the floor is soaking because we didn't put the liner down, I'm more concerned about the cloud to ground lightening taking place as we camp under a tree, next to a lake. I tried waking mike up probably ten times to get him to run to the car and seek shelter but his state was such that he didn't realize it was storming. I ran to my car alone and turned on the radio just in time to hear "tornado in Shelbyville, seek shelter now". I ran back to the campsite to wake everyone up and we performed the world's fastest tear-down. We ran to the car, outran the tornado, drove to McDonald's for breakfast, drove back to Millikin, and threw a huge party indoors instead. Although I hated it in the moment, we laugh every since time we think of the first (and last) time we went camping together.”
