Becky and Brian's Chicago Royal Wedding at the Drake
Charming details mixed with a modern flair, get ready to be inspired by this royal wedding … Chicago style! Becky and Brian wanted their wedding to be a reflection of their love story. Becky & Brian met on the first day of residency at Loyola & immediately became best friends and fell in love. After 3 years together, Brian proposed! Although Becky is originally from New York & Brian grew up in the suburbs, they fell in love in Chicago & wanted their wedding to reflect their love story. They chose the Madonna Della Strada Chapel on the Loyola campus because it is where they first met. They picked The Drake for their reception venue because it is a Chicago icon! It was also important for them to take photos around the city they fell in love in.
Becky, is her mom's only daughter. She called her her princess multiple times throughout planning. So what better way to celebrate your princess's special day than to surprise her with a carriage ride to the church. Becky boarded the trolley with the rest of the bridal party thinking she was heading straight to the chapel. She thought the trolley driver was lost when he pulled off route, but they were quickly met with a horse & carriage that she and her parents took the rest of the way to the church. After the ceremony, Becky & Brian took their horse & carriage for a special ride around the campus as husband and wife!
While Becky wore her dream dress for her wedding, she wore her mother's veil for the ceremony. For their guest book, Becky & Brian opted for a framed map of Chicago that their guests signed that they hung in their home after the wedding. Becky's mom made custom table numbers with different Chicago landmarks and Becky herself, made the clay cake toppers of her & Brian!
At the end of the night, Becky & Brian had a surprise planned for their guests. They made their way upstairs for a costume change. Brian changed into a modern white tux jacket & Becky changed into a black ballgown. They made another entrance for what they called their "2nd first dance" to a 90s grunge song, which is something they enjoy listening to together.
