Colleen and Scott are to be married in December in their now home town of Mountain Home, Arkansas but they both started their life journey living in the Chicagoland Area, Colleen in the Western Suburb of Addison and Scott in Hammond, In. The rest is the usual story of boy meets girl - they fall in love - Boy proposes to her on a trip to Florida around Christmas time on Stage at the Nutcrack Ballet - Girl says yes (of course!!!). Before they say 'I do' with their rustic wedding nestled just outside the Ozark National Forest they came to spend a weekend in Chicago and have their engagement photo taken in a way that best represented them.
Mid- May in Chicago brings unpredictable weather and as I pulled up to their building in my cab it was down pouring. and the skies were dark and gloomy. We stared at the radar on a few different Apps and it looked like we might have a little break in the rain to grab some photos before more rain came through. It slowed to a drizzle and we decided to go for it. Grabbed a car and headed to North Ave Beach to find it EMPTY. Which, as every local knows is a rare occasion. We started at the Concrete Beach that leads up to North Ave and as we made our way closer the clouds got lighter and the sun peeked out.
Then as sunset hit and the partially clouded skies turned slightly pink, Scott and Colleen were well into the smiles and flirting like teenagers to find this low lying fog roll in adding a level of romance to the atmosphere. The experience was unreal and made for magical photos. It was supposed to focus on their relationship - full of faith, passion, and so many laughs. The atmosphere brought out more of that than anyone of us expected.
