Dream Wedding - 80 Stories Up

As I dropped off Jacki and Babak’s 5 tier burgundy marbled wedding cake I quickly took a peek out the window at the beautiful skyline. Normally I would swoon. But this time I gasped trying to catch my breath from the view at 80 floors up.

The Mid America Club, located on the 80th floor of the Aon Center, features an exquisite venue for all occasions and it was the perfect one to host Jacki and Babak’s wedding reception. Perfect because it was large enough to accommodate all of their MANY guests, and perfect because the space is as beautiful as the view it provides.

In fact, EVERY detail of Jacki and Babak’s day was perfect. Their ceremony space, Assumption Catholic Church, provided traditional yet timeless and colorful beauty. Their cocktail hour featured photos of them together from when they met in college and the amount of love, happiness and celebration felt from every guest was overwhelming!

I was lucky to have met Jacki 15 years ago when we were both playing park district soccer. We became best friends in high school and I was honored when she asked me to make her wedding cake. I love when I am able to participate in my friend’s and family’s weddings in this way because it’s a bond and memory we can cherish together forever. In these cases I usually get to attend the wedding too and I love seeing my work in action! The cake cutting moment is THE moment of the night. I can’t get enough of it! I get giddy and take a ton of photos and clap and cheer like a mad woman.

We all ended the night dancing way too late and taking way too many photo booth photos. It was one of those nights where you remember to take a second and say to yourself “These ARE the good old days.”  Congratulations to Jacki and Babak and their lifetime of love and happiness to come!
