Let’s Talk: Full-Service Wedding Planner vs. Wedding Coordinator vs. In-House Venue Coordinator

As a full-service wedding planner, the most common assumption I hear from couples planning their wedding is if they have a venue coordinator then they don’t need a wedding planner or a wedding coordinator. I can understand where they’re coming from because it can be confusing, especially when the terminology all sounds the same. But, I’m here to end the confusion and break it down for you super simple and by the end you’ll be an expert for yourselves, friends and family!
I’ll start out by saying all three are professionals with clearly defined roles, but the most important thing to remember is that your full-service wedding planner and wedding coordinator is for YOU and the in-house venue coordinator is for your venue. This does not mean that the venue coordinator will not do their best to help you, your partner or guests on your special day, but ultimately they do not work for you.
You can see how the in-house venue coordinator works hand in hand with your full-service wedding planner or wedding coordinator - it truly is a team effort. Your in-house venue coordinator knows everything about the venue, but may know less about the minute wedding details and your full-service wedding planner or wedding coordinator will know everything about the details but may not know every fact about the venue. Both will lean on each other and communicate constantly throughout your wedding. Together, they will create a balance that will make your wedding feel effortless.
There is no right answer in choosing a full-service wedding planner or wedding coordinator, it’s your decision on how much involvement you want or need in your planning. Just know both have your best interests in mind and want you to be happy!
