Wedding Reception in Downtown Chicago

Written and Photography by eGolden Moments

Elizabeth and Evan hired me in 2019 for their 2020 wedding in Kansas City. Obviously, COVID decided this couldn't happen since these two wanted to make sure their wedding was safe for all their guests involved.

The summer after their original wedding date, they were planning on moving to Chicago so Elizabeth asked if I would be interested in still working with them once it was safe. Of course, my answer was yes. They still chose to get married in her parent's backyard on their original date while planning for a Chicago wedding at some point.

Fast forward a year when they were finally able to choose a date and lock in their venue. So, by the time their reception came around, they had already been married for almost two years.

When we were discussing travel plans, Elizabeth and Evan wanted to make sure their Chicago wedding was everything I wanted as well. It meant so much that they took my thoughts into consideration when planning out their photo locations. Since I had never had a Chicago wedding before, I wanted to be sure to hit up all the landmarks and make this wedding day as epic as it could possibly be. We decided on taking portraits all throughout the city, including the iconic Bean and Chicago sign. The day wouldn't have been complete without some awesome sunset photos overlooking Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

After planning for this day for almost two years, we were all bummed when rain was in the forecast. When the day came, of course, it was dreary and rainy, but this didn't stop Elizabeth and Evan from embracing the weather and going with the flow. Thankfully the rain cleared out toward the end of the day when we were able to witness the most fantastic sunset I have seen in years.

Elizabeth and Evan are seriously the most amazing couple. I got to know them pretty well over the last three years and it felt like we were old friends by the time their wedding finally rolled around. I loved being able to witness their love as they shared this day with all the people who mean the most to them.
