Meet our Co-Founder Nicole and Urban Allure Events
Today we are introducing you to our Co-Founder and Curator, Nicole and her wedding planning team Urban Allure Events! Nicole has planned over 150 weddings and events and is always up for coffee or a cocktail. She is proudly on the National Board for the non-profit Wish Upon a Wedding, has two dogs, and lives with her husband Jeff in Ravenswood. Tell us a little about you!
“I moved to Chicago almost 10 years ago (which is crazy!) and I can’t imagine calling other city home! I have been married to Jeff a little over a year, absolutely hate cilantro, and love to explore the city in my spare time. I love to play volleyball and my new work out addiction is SoulCycle. We have two dogs and too many fishtanks. Wedding planning isn’t just my job, I consider it my passion.”
How did you get into wedding planning?
“I have always been in the industry - from catering service to venue management. It is so special to be a part of someone’s wedding day! In 2015 I decided I wanted to start my own company and I haven’t looked back since!”
What inspired you to start CHI thee WED?
“We started CHI thee WED to make sure Chicago couples could find the right resources to plan their wedding day! No matter the style, budget, time of year, or color combo couples can find inspiration on our blog! Everything we publish is LOCAL and we are so proud to encourage community over competition.”
How many wedding has your team planned?
“We have planned over 150 weddings in Chicago, Orange County, Denver, and Pittsburgh! We hope that we can travel to more locations soon and continue to grow!”
What is your dream wedding destination?
“I have never been, but based on photos it would definitely be Banff in Alberta, Canada.”
How many people are on your team?
“We have FIVE planners! It is so awesome to be able to provide our couples with a planner that matches their style and personality. We work as a team so you don’t have just one planner but several working to plan your perfect day!”
What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
“Honestly, the entire process. I love seeing how each couple is different with vendor choices, location, colors and style. It is so rewarding to see it all come together!”
If you could give couples one piece of advice what would it be?
“When I planned my own wedding I hired a day of coordinator (shoutout to Wanderlust Weddings! ) They made all of my stress melt away. I didn’t need to worry about ANYTHING. You deserve that on your wedding day!
I would tell couples to seriously consider hiring a planner right after they get engaged. The advice and recommendations a planner can give will save you so much time in the planning process. Your planner’s job is to make sure you have the best information and connections so that everything runs smoothly, within your budget, and on an appropriate timeline. We always make sure to chat through every option with our clients as if they were our friends!”
