Summer Wedding Trends

If you’re a Chicagoan like me, you’ve also been basking in perfect summer weather recently - can I get a Hallelujah?! It’s been amazing - rose on the lawn, al fresco dinners, sunshine in the morning.. Ahh. My favorite season is finally here.

And with that comes an opportunity to talk about one of my favorite things: summer weddings! We’ve been keeping an eye on some summer trends, and we’re excited to share them with you!

1. Bright. Colors.

Need I say more?! We are THRILLED to see bold pops of color at weddings, and mixed with metallics and textures - heaven.

2. Mixing Indoor and Outdoor

Venues that seamlessly mix indoor and outdoor. Afraid that your guests are going to boil if your whole event is outside in the July sun, but don’t want to miss out on the beautiful summer evening? Chicago offers some incredible indoor/outdoor combo venues that provide plenty of shade, while still taking advantage of the outdoor. Check out the rooftop deck at West Loop’s Loft Lucia, West Lakeview’s Greenhouse Loft, Chicago Illuminating Company or the gorgeous blank slate at Room 1520.

3. After Parties

I see so many couples wanting to extend their summer weddings since the sun doesn’t set until later. You can also achieve this same feeling (without actually changing venues), but offering a late night food truck and changing from a gown to a fun jumpsuit or reception dress!

4. Hot Weather Desserts

Serve that beautiful cake with some ice cream! Your guests will be very appreciative of the cool treat.  Want something a bit hotter?  What about some s'mores with marshmallows from XO Marshmallow?!
